June Highlights (in September)

Sooo...Joshua will be 11 months old tomorrow (September 23). Guess that means it's time I posted highlights from when he was 7 months old (June).

7 months was a wonderful age. We could finally relax a bit and take Joshua out. Aside from the separation anxiety that started rearing its ugly head, it really was an ideal age...tons of smiles, and still too stationary to cause any damage. Perhaps that's why the Mangold's chose this month to invited us over for dinner :-) We had a lovely visit, and Joshua charmed everyone as usual. He wanted to taste Melissa's homemade ice cream (smart kid), but I was too mean. Next year...

Developments and Milestones
As if signing "milk" wasn't enough of a breakthrough, this was an exciting time when you could just see the gears spinning in Joshua's little head. He's talking/singing his own language and just amusing himself to no end. Here are a few more 7-month highlights.

  • sporting two teeth, cutting the third

  • scooting (in circles) and flipping over at lightning speed

  • standing (holding onto furniture, just being spotted by us)

  • taking baby steps (assisted, of course)

  • giving slobbery kisses - watch out!

  • waving - usually to Wallace and Gromit on my laptop's desktop, but occasionally to live people

  • using the sippy cup (as a toy, if nothing else)

  • enjoying finger food (when his mommy lets him)

  • wrestling Daddy...and winning more often than not

  • ROARING, or growling...whatever it is, it's cute. SEE

and finally, the June pics...

Father's Day / (Grand)father's Day / Granddad's B-day
This year, Father's Day fell on my dad's birthday. Jeff came in town and we enjoyed the traditional birthday meal after church. Steak, potato, salad, strawberry cake. And with it being Dad's birthday and Father's Day, we were willing to work on whatever project he requested. So, with heavy hearts, we prepared to say goodbye to our family boat with a farewell cleaning. It's been our friend for 22 years, but we don't use it often anymore, and Dad is needing the garage space. We spiffed it up and put a For Sale sign on it. Update - Dad sold the boat to a family with children about the age we were when we bought it. I hope they get as much enjoyment out of the old boat as we did.

Matt had to work his usual overnight weekend shift, which meant he had to catch up on his sleep on Sunday, then work on his homework. We took some First Father's Day photos, with Joshua sporting a Steelers onesie, of course. But we postponed celebrating "dad's day" for a later date. Update - Matt enjoyed his DQ cake :-)

That's it for June!
Beth
