I thought I'd pull out some of our favorites that have stories to accompany them. Besides, 45 photos just isn't enough...
Daddy's Study Buddy
Matt is working on his master's degree and has a test before Spring Break. He tried to get in a little studying this morning. Joshua wanted to help. Ah, my little book worm.
4-Month Checkup
And, as promised, here's the rundown from the latest ped visit.
Weight 13.0 pounds (10-25%, so still on the small side, but an improvement from the 5-10% bracket that he was in last time)
Height 25-50% (improved from the 10-25% bracket from last time)
Head circumference 25-50% (improved from the 10-25% bracket from last time)
Dr. T said he was perfect. We tend to agree. She was so impressed with his strength and was very pleased with his weight gain and development. He charmed her by placing his hand on hers and looking deep into her eyes. Of course, he also managed to charm the drug rep and grandmother in the waiting room.
He had his second round of immunizations. Our arsenal of tricks included a dose of infant Tylenol given 30 minutes before the shots, 2 rub-downs with the benzocaine alcohol swabs on the thighs where the shots were given, distraction by the "singing and dancing" frog, and a bottle ready to go. They might have helped a very slight amount, but he still turned beet red and cried. Breaks my heart. The bottle of milk was definitely the best relief, along with being held and swayed by Matt and me. But his relationship with Mr. Frog hasn't been the same since.
Beached Whale?
Joshua isn't a fan of tummy time. Never has been. But we still try to encourage him, for fear that it might look funny for an 82-year old mom to be carrying around her 50-year old son who never learned how to crawl or walk simply because he didn't like tummy time. Anyhoo, his granddad (my dad) says Joshua looks like a beached whale when he's on his tummy. He arches his back so that his legs and head are both in the air. I admit, he does look a bit like a beached whale. So, inspiration hit. We put on the "ocean friends" fuzzy bunz and went surfin'. Hope you enjoy.
And here's proof that he wants to stand and walk instead of swim and crawl...
First Restaurant Experience
We are so excited to be taking Joshua on his first long roadtrip to visit the grandparents in Pennsylvania during Spring Break. We figured it probably wouldn't hurt to take him to Cracker Barrel for a trial run since that is where we plan to stop during our trek. (They have cleaner restrooms / changing stations than most rest areas we've encountered.) We hadn't taken Joshua to a restaurant before, so we weren't quite sure how he would respond... He slept nearly the entire time! A few minutes before we left, he woke up and just looked around. Not worried. Not impressed. Just noticed that things were a little different. I hope for such success / calm indifference during our travels.
The man I love
No one can get Joshua smiling and laughing harder and faster than his daddy. Two guesses why...
I heard Matt whisper, "Beth" the other night and went into the living room to see what he needed. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the predicament he got himself into. He said he couldn't move. Wonder why.
